Overview

Macrolink’s ML-1500 Series Shark is a convection-cooled ATX 2.1 form factor computer enclosure. This robust chassis is designed for avionics and ground vehicles applications. The structure is capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions of altitude, temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, EMI and chemical exposure.

Mechanical Design

The Shark is optimized to provide maximum strength with minimum weight. Lightweight aluminum 6061-T6, brazed per MIL-B-7883, minimizes the need for fasteners and provides robust Faraday shielding protection for your electronic payload.  Removable panels use stainless steel captive hardware & self-locking helicoils for maximum shock and vibration security. Complete EMI/RFI integrity is maintained via conductive interior surfaces, braided gasketing on all moveable panels and front doors.Cut-away view of the Shark

Thermally Efficient

Convection cooling is through a filtered front-panel air inlet, 4 high-efficiency fans and honeycomb-shielded vent screens front & rear. Ample room is available for multi processor motherboards and their processor wind tunnel cooling structures.

Front Panel

The integral front panel accommodates MIL style M38999 connectors along with high-density COTS components and is customized to meet each application’s requirements. Internal cables connect the front panel to the motherboard’s Back Panel I/O connectors, and the expansion slot board connectors.

Up to 6 high-performance removable SCSI or IDE disks are easily accessible from the front panel, and additional fixed drives can be mounted inside the enclosure.

Corrosion Resistant Finish

The enclosure is chromate conversion coated per MIL-C-5541 Class 1A for maximum protection against corrosion on all surfaces, then the exterior is epoxy painted to standard military standards and colors. All materials and finishes are fungus resistant.
